Expectations & Results

Why do pests sometimes come back after treatment?

This does happen, and there are several reasons why. Many pests are highly skilled at hiding, and initial treatments can disturb hidden populations, making activity appear worse before it gets better. In other cases, pests may already be present in wall voids, neighbouring units, or external sources that weren’t immediately visible. This is why follow-up visits are often necessary—to confirm progress, address remaining activity, and ensure the treatment is working as intended rather than stopping too early.

This is a common but loaded question. We are a pest control company, not pest eliminators. Our goal is always to achieve the highest level of reduction possible, and in many cases elimination is achieved. However, outcomes depend entirely on the pest, the environment, and ongoing conditions. What we can guarantee is control—meaning the issue is managed responsibly and effectively. Permanent elimination is sometimes possible, but it cannot be promised in every situation.

Treatment longevity varies widely depending on the pest involved, the product or method used, and environmental factors such as sanitation, building condition, and pest pressure. Some treatments provide long-lasting control, while others are designed to work over shorter periods as part of a broader management plan. This is best explained on a case-by-case basis, which is why inspections and follow-up discussions are important.

The most common factors that limit success are preparation, cleanliness, and pest pressure. Poor preparation can prevent treatments from reaching key areas, while sanitation issues can continue to support pest populations. High external or neighbouring pest pressure can also reintroduce activity even after treatment. Pest control works best as a partnership, where both treatment and environmental conditions support the same goal.

Property condition and maintenance play a major role in pest control success. Gaps, moisture issues, damaged finishes, and general disrepair all make pest problems more difficult to resolve. We are not magicians—if conditions are poor, treatments become more complex and may require additional visits or corrective actions. Well-maintained properties consistently see better, faster, and longer-lasting results.

The difference comes down to intent and circumstance. Pests are typically species that actively invade living spaces in search of food, shelter, or breeding areas and can quickly establish ongoing infestations. Wildlife, on the other hand, usually ends up in buildings by chance—often due to seasonal behaviour, shelter needs, or accidental access points. In most cases, wildlife does not intend to “take over” a space and will leave if given a safe and appropriate opportunity to do so.

Wildlife species commonly found in Canada are capable of causing far more structural damage than most traditional pests. Animals such as squirrels, raccoons, birds, and skunks can damage insulation, roofing, siding, vents, and wiring. Simply removing an animal without addressing how it entered often leads to repeat issues. Exclusion work focuses on sealing entry points and reinforcing vulnerable areas so wildlife cannot return, making it a critical part of any long-term solution.

Yes. Humane wildlife control is a core principle of our approach. We prioritize solutions that protect animal welfare while resolving the issue responsibly. Whenever possible, animals are allowed to exit safely and naturally, and exclusion measures are installed to prevent re-entry. We do not intentionally harm or kill wildlife as part of our standard practices, and every situation is handled with consideration for both the animal and the property involved.

It is possible, particularly if animals are highly motivated or if new vulnerabilities develop over time. This is why we recommend periodic inspections for properties that have experienced wildlife issues in the past. Buildings change, materials age, and wildlife behaviour adapts. Ongoing monitoring helps ensure exclusion remains intact and allows potential problems to be addressed before they turn into active intrusions.
