Natural-born Thieves?
One cool and uncommonly known fact about squirrels is that they have a unique way of deceiving potential thieves from finding their hoarded food. Some squirrels will pretend to bury their food in one location while actually hiding it in another. They do this by digging a hole and then pretending to place the food inside while actually keeping it in their mouth or in their paws. This behavior is known as “fake caching” and is used by squirrels to throw off potential thieves, such as other squirrels or birds, who may be watching and waiting to steal their food.
Squirrels | Cool Facts
Did you know squirrels teeth never stop growing?
Squirrels have highly specialized teeth that never stop growing. Their front teeth, called incisors, grow continuously throughout their lives and are constantly worn down by gnawing on hard surfaces.
Squirrels have a long, bushy tail that serves a variety of functions. They use their tail for balance while running and jumping, as well as a communication tool to signal danger or aggression.
Squirrels also have a specialized digestive system that allows them to extract nutrients from their food. They have a large cecum, a pouch connected to their intestines, which contains bacteria that break down cellulose and other complex carbohydrates in their food.
Squirrels have highly developed senses of sight and hearing, which they use to locate food and avoid danger. Their eyes are positioned on the sides of their head, giving them a wide field of vision, and their ears can rotate independently to locate sounds.
Fearless Through Knowledge
Squirrels are small, acrobatic, and bushy-tailed rodents that are common throughout Canada. While they are sometimes seen as a nuisance by humans, it is important to recognize the important role that squirrels play in the ecosystem and the benefits they provide to humans. One of the primary roles of squirrels is as consummate seed dispersers. They consume a wide variety of seeds, nuts, and fruits, and then bury them in the ground for later consumption, often forgetting where they buried them. This process helps to spread plant species and maintain genetic diversity in the ecosystem. Additionally, their burrows and nests provide important habitats for many other animals, such as birds and insects. Squirrels also play a role in nutrient cycling. They consume and distribute nutrients from plants throughout the ecosystem, which helps to support the growth and health of other plants and animals.
In terms of their ecological impact, squirrels are prey for many larger predators, such as hawks, eagles, and foxes. They also serve as a food source for many smaller predators, such as snakes and owls. Without squirrels, many predators would need to find alternative sources of food, which could have significant impacts on the overall health and balance of the ecosystem.
While squirrels can sometimes cause damage to property, by finding their way into structures, creating unsanitary conditions, and chewing on wires, they are generally not aggressive towards humans and will only defend themselves when threatened. Innovative Pest Solutions will only use humane ways to deter squirrels from certain areas and prevent conflicts with humans. We recognize that squirrels are an important part of the ecosystem and should not be exterminated or caused to suffer. While they can cause they can cause damage to people’s homes, through proper exclusion and humane control, there are many ways to coexist with them and prevent conflicts in a responsible and sustainable manner. We want to encourage others to recognize the benefits squirrels offer us and to coexist with them for a more healthy and diverse ecosystems.

Squirrels are cute and furry creatures that are often seen scurrying around parks and backyards, but they also have some comically gross habits that may surprise you.
One funny fact about squirrels is that they are notorious hoarders. They will collect and store food, such as nuts and seeds, in various locations to prepare for winter. However, squirrels are not very organized, and they often forget where they have hidden their treasures. This can lead to some amusing scenarios, such as a squirrel digging through a flowerpot or even a person’s shoe to retrieve a stash of nuts.
Another funny gross fact about squirrels is that they have a habit of chewing on just about anything they can get their teeth on, including trash, furniture, and even bones. This behavior is not only gross but can also be destructive. It’s not uncommon to see a squirrel gnawing on a discarded chicken wing or trying to sneak off with a piece of pizza crust.
Squirrels & Patio Furniture
quirrels are notorious for their love of gnawing on objects, and patio furniture is no exception. These furry little critters can wreak havoc on outdoor furniture, leaving chew marks and even causing significant damage.
One of the main reasons that squirrels target patio furniture is because it is often made of wood or other materials that are attractive to their sharp teeth. They may also be drawn to the scent of food or other substances on the furniture, such as barbecue sauce or spilled drinks.
To prevent squirrels from damaging patio furniture, there are several steps that can be taken. One option is to cover the furniture with a tarp or other protective covering when it is not in use. This can help to deter squirrels and other animals from chewing on the wood or other materials.
Another option is to use repellents or deterrents, such as spray-on coatings that make the furniture taste bitter or smell unappealing to squirrels. These products can be found at most home and garden stores, and can be applied easily to outdoor furniture.
Finally, it is important to be proactive when it comes to squirrel control. This means keeping trees and other potential squirrel habitats away from the patio area, and removing any fallen nuts or other food sources that may attract squirrels.
With a little bit of effort and some proactive measures, it is possible to keep squirrels from damaging patio furniture and other outdoor objects. By taking the time to protect your furniture, you can enjoy your outdoor space without worrying about these pesky little creatures.
Squirrels & Strenght
Squirrels may be small in size, but they are mighty creatures with incredible strength. These furry little animals are able to climb tall trees and leap great distances with ease, thanks to their powerful hind legs and sharp claws.
One of the most impressive feats of strength exhibited by squirrels is their ability to lift and carry objects that are many times their own weight. Squirrels have been known to carry nuts, acorns, and even entire ears of corn up trees and across long distances. They do this by gripping the object tightly in their jaws and using their sharp claws to scale trees and navigate challenging terrain.
Squirrels are also known for their impressive jumping abilities. These creatures are able to leap distances of up to ten times their body length, using their powerful hind legs to launch themselves through the air. They are also skilled climbers, able to scamper up trees and across branches with ease.
Perhaps most impressive of all is the squirrel’s ability to adapt to their environment. These animals are able to survive and thrive in a variety of different habitats, from dense forests to urban environments. They are skilled at finding food and avoiding danger, using their highly developed senses of sight and hearing to navigate their surroundings.
Overall, squirrels are incredible creatures with a surprising amount of strength and agility. From their ability to lift and carry heavy objects, to their impressive jumping and climbing skills, these little animals never cease to amaze.
